Christmas poem
Gram's Tree
Christmas with Robert

8 Aug. 05
I am thinking through the silent staccato of tears about two Robert stories:
After hearing me say to a neighbor collecting for the heart foundation or some such worthy cause, “I just can’t give anything right now; our budget’s really tight.” Robert jumped from his overstuffed chair and said, “I’ll give from my account.”
There was another time he bought a small, cheesy bowl that says, “Salsa” on the side. I’m looking at it now. The young child who came to the door to raise funds for his school appreciated Robert.
I wish I had recognized his goodness more. I could have lightened his load. He hardly ever said no, unless he sensed charlatanry or dishonesty.
If anyone’s interested in the things I’m learning Post-Robert, Home Alone, sometimes I’ll write and share. It’s therapeutic so bear with me…
Go with God.
I’m sending this to all who loved Robert. The postage will be considerable.

Caren's poem
The King shall come when morning dawns and light triumphant breaks.
When Beauty gilds the eastern hills and life to Joy awakes.
Not as of old, a little child, to bear and fight and die,
But crowned with Glory like the sun that lights the morning sky.
The King shall come when morning dawns and earth's dark night is past.
Oh haste the rising of that morn, the day that shall ever last.
And let the endless bliss begin by weary saints foretold,
When right shall triumph over wrong, and Truth shall be extolled.
The King shall come when morning dawns and light and beauty brings,
Hail Christ the Lord! Your people pray, "Come quickly King of Kings."
- anon.
