Quote of the week

"Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed."   G.K. Chesterton

With Gabriel and Elissa's parental permission, I'm going to read Fairy Tales to Morgan and Isaiah this weekend.  Don't try and stop me!  Pleeeeeeeease

for Goodness sakes

Elissa's mama with Morgan.  If Elissa was in front of the camera rather than behind it, this wonderful photo would feature three family generations.  Raeann might be excited to hear that my colleague, Tammy, asked if Grandma Raeann was one of Elissa's sisters.  She was awed when I told her that Raeann is Elissa's mother and Isaiah Robert's young Grandma.

Father and son reunion

Isaiah Robert

Gabriel sucked these two fingers as well.  Always good to know we're bringing the right child home from the horsepistal.  Gabe exactly did this!  Must be his son.
So thankful to you, Elissa, for carrying the first GrandSon.  Job well done!

Isaiah Robert MacMurchy

Gabriel and Elissa's beautiful baby boy, born 16 April 2010, 8 lbs 6 oz, 20 inches long with dark hair which I hope he keeps past age 30.  Gorgeous and healthy.  "Praise the Lord!"

Morgan the - Best Big Sister - could not be more excited!  She called and said, "I'm sure you've heard his name is Isaiah.  It's in the Bible."

Isaiah means, "Salvation of God, the Lord helps me."

Beautiful

An economics lecture no student will ever hear

This article by Herbert E. Meyer was instructive.  Worth reading and learning.

The cure for medical care

I sent this video to my physician cousin, Ron, and our wonderful local doc, Kim Wilde.  Very impressive.

Let the peddling begin

With the first 100 miles under my belt - and off the thighs - I'm officially declaring Bike Season 2010 open!   Whooo Hoooo

The Land of Beginning Again

I wish that there were some wonderful place
called The Land of Beginning Again,
where all our mistakes, and all our heartaches,
and all of our poor selfish griefs
could be dropped like a shabby old coat at the door,
and never be put on again.
poem by Louisa Fletcher Tarkington

seeking the smallest crack
by which it may enter in."

Humorous quotes of the week

"When Joy took Ellie and Zero to your house for the weekend, it was the happiest day of my life." Nathaniel's veiled reference to the frustration of managing not 1 but 2 pugs.  He missed Joy, not so much the GrandDogs.

Joy to the Mom:  "You look like a pink nightmare, Care!"
Actually Ellie looks like a Pink Nightmare, if you ask me!

chance meeting of the week

While on the bike trail this Easter weekend I ran into Jean, a fellow biker.   Every April when the geese are squawking to protect the ganders, Jean and I run into each other on the trail.  Yesterday she reminded me that she is 75 years old.  Oh My Word!

I am a fair weather outdoor person.  Jean, on the other hand, cross-country skis and walks her lab in the snow and sleet.  After we thaw out, the woman of elderly persuasion treks daily on her Trek bike which she has owned for 2 1/2 years.  3000 miles have stacked up on her odometer.  Terrific!

My prayer has always been that I will be peddling in my mid-70's.  Jean inspires me.  It can happen by the grace of God.  Now that we've officially declared the bike season open, both Jean and I are ready to peddle around the hissing father goose as he instinctively protects his baby goslings.
Oh blessed spring.  New Life
