Blast from the past

This Bad Boy will ring a bell with Gabers and the Girls. Gabe's first car, she was. We called 'er "Peej Sr." She was the oldest of all the family jeeps.

After Robert purchased Peej from Gabe, his favorite thing was to pick the girls up at school. The ceiling liner was falling around their head and there was a hole in the back seat floor that I always feared one of the kids would fall through, never to be seen again. She was a doozy! But by George, Robert loved this car. He was always so proud to be the only one that could plow through the snow drifts in a SD mid-winter blizzard and make it home from work.

It was painful to see Peej parked after Robert went Home. Just the sight of her made me sad. So I was thrilled when my Good Neighbor, Larry, said that his son needed a hunting vehicle in northern Minnesota. Out of sight was fine with me.

This year Larry's son camo-ed the Beast so she looks better than ever. There will be no sneaking up on the deer in this camouflaged vehicle. Too funny! Robert would be tickled.

The Good Neighbors call Peej Sr "Ol Yeller." Here's what Larry wrote:
Here are a couple pictures of “Ol’ Yeller” aka “Peej Sr.” The Pride of the North Country.

Priceless

Ain't that the stinkin' truth!

Quote of the Day

There is usually only a limited amount of damage that can be done by dull or stupid people. For creating a truly monumental disaster, you need people with high IQs. Thomas Sowell

great goodness

Two redemptive cinemas

Why cinemas instead of movies? Definition of cinema: Motion picture as art. Art features creative goodness: Behold the beauty of the creation. Redemptive. Beauty from ashes. That is cinema. These two films qualify as cinema.

Scottish Friends movie night when Danielley and Cheri0 are in town! These two on the docket.

Nathaniel's inspiration

This out-of-the-box ad for NDSU football is Nathaniel's brainchild. It was his idea to feature real clothing flapping in the Fargo wind. Eye-catching, it is. Let the dat-gum laundry wait! It's football season in the midwest!

Thomas Sowell is no underdog

Not a politically tainted article (see below), just (un)common sense. I admire Thomas Sowell, an economics professor and fellow at Stanford's Hoover Institute. If this short article about his early years sparks an interest, I recommend his autobiography. Incredible story.

call me nuts

Back up the Fashion Float, is that the same dat-gum scarf E-dog is wearing in the pic below? Things may be tough in the fiscal dept, Joy, but really must you share clothing with your dog-er-eenooo?! hahahhahahahaha

Here we are downtown FarG wine tasting. Notice the nearly full glasses. Aren't they supposed to be a mere whiff ~ a slurp or two? Apparently it was the wine man's First Rodeo. Joy and I laughed ourselves silly, as you can imagine!

Ellie the GrandDog

As Joy occasionally cautions the mom: "That's not a good look for you."

I'm into scarves and this funky one specifically, but El has the look of a beleaguered slavic woman. The things we do to our pups while they're' not lookin!

SD hot rods

This is the stuff I love about our town: Discovering small town stuff while riding all over town!

Saturday I hopped on the saddle for a long ride around the lake and then into town. Saturday was absolutely perfect! Mid 70's with zero wind. Glorious!

1/2 way around the lake at Memorial Park, I noticed my sidekick Tammy's RV and her dad's Heartbreak Hotel teeny trailor. But they were M.I.A. ~ no where to be found.

To town I peddle and lo and behold, there is a hot rod event in the middle of uptown! WHO KNEW?!

The first car is Tammy's dad's which you see in the first picture. Mike Reilly made each of his three children a rod and this one is Tammy's. Terrific! Mike barely finished 8th grade, has been a recovered alcoholic for over 30 years and is brilliant in the mechanical department as witnessed by his handiwork. Not to mention he is the world's Most Generous Man as is his daughter, Tammy, my school colleague!

I think to myself amidst all these Bad Boy hot rods, "Kenny" - in the 3rd pic - "just cannot miss this!" He is one of our students and loves to make models and draw and talk about all things hot rod. So I tool over to his house to bring him to the Hot Rod Event which he knew nothing about. We had a blast especially after hearing Tammy among the crowd. (One always hears Tam before they see her! Don't tell her I mentioned it!!) Kenny's "Dream Car" is the classic corvette. I'll have him write about it this week in Language.

Twenty-three miles and several hours later, I'm parking the Bad Girl bike back in my garage. Happy as a clam in heat! What a day!!!

Thanx for listenin' and try to make a difference today!

monthly jaunt

Kim0 and I out and about in Soo Foo after our monthly Pastor of Pain app'tment. Feelin' fine Friday eve after a fabulous dinner at Speziah's. The garlic shrimp and Seven Deadly Zins rendered us buoyant to say the least. We're both usually hoarse - as in Zero Voice - after ranting and raving for several hours. Always good to catch-up on Loved Ones and kingdom living in general.

Too bad I forgot myself and reverted back to the old and beleaguered half-crocked smile. Good grief.

Happy days!

Come on baby, light my fire

I feel confident about our future. Let’s face it! Most other presidents have not been able to light a fire under the derrieres of a large segment of the population who have become phlegmatic about the excesses of their representatives.

Quintessential Watertown

While glancing in your rearview mirror if this Bad Boy looms large, you could be on main street H20town. Never saw this in LA.

The John Deere Extraordinaire above is in a field where it belongs! We'll try and clear 'em out before you get here, cm! Don't want to frighten the Left Coast-ers!

Let Justice roll down like water and righteousness like an ever flowing stream.
Amos 5:24

The elite see us as needing their benevolent care, since we don't have their level of "sophistication". Such arrogance is the road to tyranny, as warned by writer C. S. Lewis:
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive."

And this bit of wisdom from William F. Buckley, Jr: I'd rather entrust the government of the United States to the first 400 people listed in the Boston telephone directory than to the faculty of Harvard University.

Bottom line: Attempting to create Utopia sans God will not work. There is no heaven on earth without the Heaven-Maker. And make no mistake, Jesus is the smartest Man in the room.

20/20

Vision blurred
heart allured,
convenience at all cost.

exorbitant, the cost
of the lost
vision blurred.

Creator's workshop invaded
nothing Sacred.
Blurred vision,
God please, Re-Vision.

come sweet Surrender
re-Vision.
All is Sacred
womb to tomb.

Sovereign Lord,
all cry "Holy"
Vision fixed
gaze transfixed.

God Almighty,
work your Wonder
I surrender.

Let the little children come

Many folks may not know that on my seventh birthday, my brother Daniel Brown Houser was born. Danny was a Down Syndrome baby. He lived only a year and a half after contracting measles.

My heart for the mentally challenged began beating after my brother's birth and death. I am thankful to work with children who find the high bar of academic learning tough to hurdle. No one works harder than these children because everything pertaining to readin, writin and 'rithmetic is difficult.

Highest regards from Mrs. M.
