squwaack

A pheasant just glided into my yard. They make a unique sound as they fly. The prettiest bird on the face of the globe, they are. And there's one in my yard. What a terrific place to live.

The funny thing about pheasants is that I'd hardly heard of them until we moved to SD. These beauties hail from China. Either someone brought one across the seas or they had a long migrate one winter. Not sure.

My artist Dad painted a lovely pheasant landscape and the water color proudly hangs on my Art Wall. Why a Missouri lad would paint a group of pheasants, I cannot say. But the picture foreshadowed my family's prairie move. Pheasants on the wall ~ pheasants in the yard. Terrific

Pheasants in your yard and pheasants on your wall! Sounds like a theme! Would you like the stuffed pheasant in my basement?? *smile*

Oh don't look now, Baby, that Bad Boy pheasant was in the living room for many a moon. He's yours now. hahhahah

There's a gal at school who just returned from a 2-week trip to Africa where her husband shot 7 wild game. Everything from warthogs to exotic African animals I've never heard of. All 7 trophy heads will be in her home. Apparently the hubby has a room where the dead animals roam but room for seven more!? My word...

I've only seen one pheasant over here and it was in a cage. Check that, I did see a cool scroll that had a picture of one on it as well. If they are originally from China there aren't many left any more. Whenever I try to tell people about my home state I tell them about pheasants and so far nobody has had any clue what I'm talking about - although that might have more to do with my Chinese speaking ability and less to do with the distribution of pheasants in China ;)
