Jesus atop the mountain

Cheri ran into this Jesus statue while skiing on Whitefish Mountain over the holydays. There's a story here but I'm still doing the research.

On the edges: When I see a sculpture like this of the Good Dear Lord, I think marginal. Folks see a plastic looking statue with hands outstretched clothed in Biblical robes, and they presume that Jesus is so "last millennia." Thoroughly irrelevant.

Reality: Jesus created and sustains that mountain. And the majestic snow ghosts as well.

"...for in Jesus Christ all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible...all things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together."

Let every ski bow!

My dad can’t remember the history of this statue of Jesus, except that it’s been at the top of Chair Two on Big Mountain for a long time. I remember seeing it stand watch, casting blessings and watching over me as a young skier — so it’s been there at least 40 years!
The statue was recently repainted but has its fingers broken off, so I figured he was giving me a thumbs up!

And cheri0, we all know if the statue memory eludes Papa, there must not be much history of interest. The man has a mind like a steel trap.

But never mind, we know the Grand Story which has Jesus alive and well in the center of His-Story (aka, history). And we'll never forget.

The coolest part is that Jesus was watching over you when you were a wee bit of a Lass-ie. And still is...
