When Teachers Strike: A Memoir enlightening narrative from a mother who became teacher for a short season.
Mrs. Gunn's personal story offers a voice of reason in the midst of the Madison mayhem. Count me in.
As a teacher, I serve at the pleasure of those who pay my salary. 'tis a sacrificial calling of service much like pastoring. All jobs worth doing require diligence and sacrifice. But frankly, I'm tickled pink to have work that is both fulfilling and puts food on the table. It seems arrogant to tout teachers as unusually sacrificial. What worthy job does not require sacrifice?
My trust will always land in the lap of the taxpayer not the union, local or national. Let us remember who we serve: Taxpaying men and women of goodwill and their children. Those folks have a dog in this race. As a gainfully employed teacher in Watertown School District, I serve the taxpayer. And ultimately I serve God who sees the hearts of all mankind.

The union leadership brought this on themselves. They could see what was happening with the ststes finances as well as any of us. Did they step forward to help -- NO! They just kept digging the hole deeper and deeper. Now the kids have to pay.
We can now understanding why many of our forefathers said that public servants should NOT be allowed to unionize. We elect people to manage the public employees. The private industry managers take care of problems like this in their business or they go out of business and another enterprise takes over.
I fully support Goc Walker. It's nice to see an elected official do what he campaigned to do. I think he has the support of the majority here. Those faces you see on TV are the minority and get the exposure because of the liberal biased press.
When the other states start taking measures to fix the financial issues we all need to support them as well. GO KASICH!!!
Well put, Good Neighbor ~ the "we're doing it for the Kids" schtick doesn't fly. It's the kids who are going to be stuck holding the bag in the end. "Penny-up, Kiddos, Big Daddy Union is hungry!!"
And we're not even touching on the incestuous relationship between the dem-wits and unions. The only guy not represented at the collective borrowing table is the poor sap footin' the bill: the taxpayers! Enough already!!! Finally the bottom line is screaming! Must be heard
And now the doctors are getting involved in this fraud! How could any of these teachers call a student to account for a fraudulent absence attempt after this? Lord--put some sense in these people!
Amen Care! Why can't we EARN a pay raise by working above and beyond the call of duty, not thrown one because we screamed the loudest?
